James Owen Shiver, Jr.

James Owen Shiver, Jr., 83, of Moultrie, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Benton officiating.  Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born July 15, 1938, in Thomas County Georgia, he was the son of the late James Owen Shiver, Sr. and Iva Spears Shiver Pitts.   Mr. Shiver retired as a carpenter from several mobile home manufacturers and was of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed fishing and going bowling.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Rice Shiver; granddaughter, April Paulk; stepfather, Alvin Pitts.

Survivors include his children, James Rickey Shiver of Moultrie, Donnie Owen Shiver of Milledgeville, Tammy Shiver Paulk and husband Curt of Moultrie; grandchildren, James Curt Paulk and fiancé Kimberly Anderson, Cherish Shiver, Keshia Shiver, Whitney Shiver, Ivey Shiver, Owen Shiver and wife Jenna, Sammy Shiver; great-grandchild, James Paulk, Jr.; several other great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Catherine Shiver Eason, Ivalene Shiver Chessman both of Jacksonville, FL.
