James Henry "Jim" Murphy, Jr.

James Henry Murphy, Jr., 72 of Moultrie, passed away November 26, 2023 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at Cobb Funeral Chapel at 11 AM with Reverend Andy Cashwell and Clint Murphy.  Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with Justin Thompson as speaker.  Casketbearers will be Wes Blease, Bruce Blease, Justin Thompson, Josh Thompson, Ragan Rowley and Blake Rowley. Honorary casketbearers will be his co-workers from Riverside Uniform Rentals.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born July 18, 1951 in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Eloy Carr Murphy and James Henry Murphy, Sr.  He graduated from Moultrie High School in 1969, attended Norman College & served in the National Guard. He attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was the General Manager at Riverside Uniform Rentals with over 35 years of service.  He was a caring/loving man with a strong work ethic who loved the Lord.  He loved spending time with his family especially his 3 granddaughters, being on the farm & hunting with his sons.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson Tate Henry Murphy and sisters Sandra Wallet and Susan Harper.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife Katy Taylor Murphy of Moultrie; sons Clint Murphy and wife Sarah of Moultrie and Zack Murphy and wife Whitney of Statesboro, GA; granddaughters Katie Lynn Murphy, Rivers Caroline Murphy and Hallie Grace Murphy; siblings Linda Bloyder of Billings, MT, Gail Jarvis of Niceville, FL and Anna Rowley (Frank) of Douglas, GA.
