James "Junior" Swearingen, Jr.

THIS OBITUARY POSTED AS A COURTESY TO THE SWEARINGEN FAMILY

 

Mr. James F. “Junior” Swearingen, Jr., age 72, of Tennessee, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee, following a brief illness. 

He was a native of Moultrie, moving to Vidalia in 1970, and graduated from Vidalia High School that year. He lived in Vidalia most of his life before moving to Tennessee several years ago. He worked at Oxford Industries, Edwin I. Hatch Plant during its construction, and worked as a truck driver at Piggly Wiggly from 1979 until 1996. He worked as a truck driver at Brilad Oil Company for several years. He was a member of Normantown Baptist Church and attended Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons. He enjoyed deer, squirrel, and quail hunting, yard work, and teaching all his grandchildren to ride their bike. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Frank Swearingen, Sr. and Lois Fannin Swearingen; a brother, Gary Swearingen.

His family includes his wife of fifty years, Ellen Waters Swearingen of Tennessee; two children, James Frank “Trey” Swearingen III and wife Kara of Lyons, and Tamah L. Swearingen of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Benjamin Edward Swearingen, Brady Austin Swearingen, Rylie Harper Swearingen, and twins, Everly Swearingen, and Elleigh Swearingen; two sisters, Linda Rice and husband Lynn of Vidalia, and Glenda Yearty of Albany; one brother, Kenneth Fannin and wife Bernice of Winder; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00.

A graveside funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, July 7th, at 3:00 at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Preston Mixon officiating.

Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
