James Grant Creel, Jr.

James Grant Creel, Jr., 77 of Meigs, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Pastor Matthew Schluckebier officiating.  Casketbearers will be James C. Creel, Ernie Creel, Myron Harrison, Craig Harrell, Troy O’Neal and James Horne.  Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Creel was born August 5, 1946 in Albany, GA the son of James Grant Creel, Sr. and Nellie May Simmone Creel.  He was a printer with Quality Printing Company in Thomasville, GA.  Mr. Creel was a member of the Church of God and an Air Force veteran.  He enjoyed going camping, fishing, working on his computer and photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Nellie May Simmone Creel and James Grant Creel, Sr.; daughter Lana Dione Creel and a brother Earnest Nolan Creel.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Ethel Harrell Creel of Meigs; children James Grant Creel lll and wife April of Jacksonville, Fl, John Thomas Morris and wife Dana of Barnesville, GA, Elizabeth Joyce Morris Middleton and husband Stacey of Moultrie, GA, Michelle Yvonne Morris Cone and husband Blake of Meigs; grandchildren Austin Creel, Alice Creel, James Scott Morris and wife Savannah; great grandson Easton Thomas Morris.
