Ivanell Joyce Huckeba Flowers

July 9, 1932 — May 4, 2021

Announcing that our Beloved Mother, Ivanell Joyce Huckeba Flowers has graduated from this life, changed her address, and moved to her new home with her Lord and Saviour.

A graveside inurnment, celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Pinecrest Memory Gardens with Mr. Michael Hill, Mr. Austin Cunningham, and Mr. Christian Cunningham officiating.

She was born July 9, 1932 to Owen Raymond Huckeba and Irene Mabel Watson Huckeba. She was one of the greatest generation. Having been born during the Great Depression she grew up in Atlanta, Columbus, Moultrie and Coolidge, Ga, she began keeping books for her father’s construction business at an early age and would continue in accounting and bookkeeping throughout her life. She met the love of her life, Leon Edsall Flowers. They married and lived in Hawaii during the Korean War.  After his military commitment, they returned to their farm in Colquitt County, Ga.  Leon preceded her in death in 1981, and she never remarried but focused her attention on her love for God, family and friends.  She rose early and daily studied the Word, spending time praying for each of her family members, friends, community and country.

She stated that her greatest accomplishments were her children, Don(Velita) Flowers, Ellen(Clint) Cunningham, and Carla(Michael) Hill. Her biggest blessings were her grandchildren, Jennifer(Ed) Reed, Jill Flowers, Austin Cunningham, Christian Cunningham, Bradley Hill, Brian Hill, Tristen Hill, Jean-Luc Hill, Gabrielle Hill and great grandchildren London, Avery, Eden and Novella; aunt, (that she called sister) Hilda Smith; brother-in-law, Jimmy Long; sister-in-law, Annette Huckeba and much beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Raymond Huckeba and Martha Long. Her heart’s desire was not to leave a legacy of her but that others would see Jesus and how He gave her beauty from ashes, turned her weakness into strength, her sorrow into joy and suffering into glory, providing for her so much so that on her last breath was Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.

Those wishing to honor Ivanell’s memory may do so by contributing to Faithful is He PO Box 673, Thomasville, GA 31799, or any other ministry that honors Jesus Christ.
