Moultrie, Georgia – Helen (Bama) Brooks Holloway, 96, of Moultrie, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Funston Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Shiver officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Fritz Holloway, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 AM, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Funston Baptist Church.

Born June 22, 1930, in Sylvester, Georgia, she was the daughter of Henry Watson Brooks and Ruby Davis Brooks of Doerun, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Fritz Holloway; son, Gary Holloway; grandchildren, Gary Fritz (Buster) Holloway, Jr. and Donna Tatum; and siblings, Carroll Brooks and Billy Brooks.

Survivors include her children, Brenda Smith, Mary Spurlock, and Dale Holloway; grandchildren, Ashley Spurlock and wife (Vonda), Heather Joiner and husband (Russ), Keith Holloway, Chris Tatum, Carrie Baggett and husband (Jeremy), and Terry Holloway; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Doris Shirah, Christine Norman and husband (Ray), Patricia Bell, and Bobby Brooks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She retired from Moultrie National Bank, where she enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a teller. Throughout the years, she became a familiar and friendly face to many and took great pride in serving others with kindness and a welcoming smile.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Bama was an active and faithful member of Funston Baptist Church. Her church family held a special place in her heart. For many years, she lovingly taught Sunday School, sharing her faith and encouraging others.

Above all, Bama’s greatest joy was her family. She loved caring for those around her and creating a warm and welcoming home where family and friends naturally gathered. She treasured time spent together and had a special way of making each person feel as though they were her favorite. Bringing the people she loved together brought her great happiness.

Bama had a special love for flowers and took great joy in tending to her flower garden. She loved watching it bloom and could often be found caring for her flowers. She also enjoyed baking and crocheting.

Bama leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, kindness, and love that will continue through the many lives she touched.
