Melbourne, Florida

MELBOURNE, FL – Harry Elbert Pope, 77, of Melbourne, Florida, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in Moultrie, Ga. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Stanley Norman officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  

The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  

Born November 19, 1946, in Tampa, Florida, he was the son of the late William Elbert Pope and Rachael “Madeline” Baker Pope Heape.   Mr. Harry was an Army Veteran who served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War and was of the Baptist faith.   He was a retired carpenter with Harris Corp.    Mr. Harry was a classic car enthusiast, he enjoyed working and restoring them, particularly 1955 and 1957 Chevy’s.    He loved his family, enjoyed fellowship with church family while driving the church bus and at gatherings.   Mr. Harry was a man of many talents and was loved by his family and friends dearly. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings, Ann Savko, Billy Pope, Elizabeth Hendrix, and Albert Pope.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Elaine Beal Pope of Melbourne, FL; children, Sherry Pope of Melbourne, FL, Duane Pope and wife Jennifer of Meigs, GA, Karen Conde and husband Angel of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Kaitie Borgmann and husband Ryan, Nicole Conde, Jonathan Pope; great-grandchildren, Grace Borgmann, Emma Borgmann; siblings, Sara Blansett and husband Ron of Adel, GA, Douglas Pope and wife Jan of Middleburg, FL.
