Grady Bennett Strawder, Jr.

September 14, 1949 — June 17, 2023

LAKE HELEN, FL – Grady Bennett Strawder, Jr, 74, of Lake Helen, Florida, and formerly of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his residence. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie, Georgia, with the Reverend Dr. James Wideman officiating.  

Born September 14, 1949, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Grady B. Strawder, Sr. and Alma Stallings Strawder.  Mr. Grady was a kindhearted and gentle person who never met a stranger.  He enjoyed helping others and spending time with his family.  Mr. Grady served as manager of Handi-Cab of Florida, Inc., and also Sunstate Courier Services.  He was a certified EMT, a Paratransit Technician Instructor, a Passenger Assistance Techniques Instructor, and also held certification in Transporting Older Adults and People with Disabilities. From 1980-1984, he was President of the first Hearing Aid Bank for the Orlando Lions Club, and was Vice-President of the National Spinal Cord Injury Foundation from 1981-1989.  He retired as Paratransit Manager for the Medical Transport Service of Mears Transportation Group after many years of faithful service.  He was of the Baptist Faith. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carma Sackett Strawder, on August 21, 2022.

Survivors include his sister, Sandra “Sandy” Wideman and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Frances Bowman; brother-in-law, Roger Bostick and wife Diane; niece Mindy Morriss and husband, Mike; niece Stacey Wideman, nephew Jeremy Wideman and wife Kathy, nephew Robert Sackett and fiancée Chrystal, nephew Garry Sackett and wife Brandy, and other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
