George A. Boyd

MOULTRIE, GA – George A. Boyd, age 76, of Moultrie, Georgia, walked into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A. M. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with Rev. Wayne Woods and Rev. Matt Peek officiating.   Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are suggested.  As a special tribute to George, the family would cherish your attendance.

George retired from the State of Georgia Health Department as an Environmental Specialist.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Moultrie for over 50 years.  During this time, he served in many capacities as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, and Deacon. As a member of the Gideons, he participated in spreading the word of God for many years. He lived life to the fullest and bore the burden of his illness with grace and dignity.  He was an inspiration to us all. He enjoyed singing and laughing.  His most cherished and favorite things in life after God were family, friends, and church. He was a huge Georgia football fan and loved the Colquitt County Packers.  He will definitely be missed by all. 

Born October 27, 1943, Mr. Boyd was the son of the late Willie Opal Boyd and Rebecca Young Boyd.  Survivors include his loving wife, Freddie Franklin Boyd of Moultrie; sons, Alan Boyd and wife Jessica of Moultrie and Brent Boyd of Savannah; brother, Dr. Jack Boyd and wife Shirley of Sharpsburg, Georgia; three beautiful grandchildren, Jeremiah Boyd, Clayton Jack Boyd, and Georgia Boyd; special niece and caregiver, Sandy Milleman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was predeceased by sisters, Ellie Will Sadler and Ramsella Cowles, and his brother Louie Odom.
