Evelyn Hawkins Griffin

MOULTRIE, GA – Evelyn Hawkins Griffin, 91, of Moultrie, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tommy Bussey officiating.  Private interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 at the chapel prior to the service.  

Born on September 28, 1932, in Worth County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Hawkins and Frances Poole Hawkins.  She enjoyed fishing and playing the odds on any game.  Mrs. Griffin was a skilled cook who loved to feed others.  She considered her family to be her greatest treasure and loved them more than anything else in the world.  Mrs. Griffin loved her Lord and was a member of the Christian Crusade Church in Moultrie.  Her steady presence and love for others will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van C. Griffin; her brothers, Alvin Hawkins, Lacy Hawkins, Curtis Hawkins; sisters, Odell Christmas, Lois Dibenedetto, Zimmie Fulghum and Louis Hiers.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Connell and husband Willie; grandsons, Greg Connell and wife Kristen, Brandon Connell and Scott Connell and significant other Jessica; great-granddaughters, Addi Mae Connell and Baylie Grace Connell; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
