Wayne Ruis

Elton “Wayne” Ruis, 76, of Moultrie, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, after a lengthy illness.

Graveside service was held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Woods officiating.

Born on December 19, 1947, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Willie Elton Ruis and Flory Barfield Ruis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Florence Johnson Ruis. He is survived by loved ones, family, and friends.

Wayne retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. He had a love of music and, from a very young age, he played the electric guitar for the Riverside Holiness Church choir. In latter years, he continued playing his guitar at Providence Holiness Church until his health declined.

Heartfelt thanks to Wayne’s church family, and to all those who called, visited, sent cards, encouraged, and prayed for Wayne throughout his illness. He always tried to let us know who visited or called and it meant so much to him. Special thanks to Caregiver Lisa Maness who helped Joan during her illness and continued caring for Wayne after Joan’s passing. Also, thanks to the many kind nurses and staff at Pruitt Health Sunrise. During stressful and disappointing times, your kindness made all the difference.
