Elaine McLendon

MEIGS, GEORGIA - Doris Elaine McLendon, 78, of Meigs, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Lamar Lee officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 PM Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Mason Benton, Anthony Yarbrough, Patrick Benton, Justin Pless, Jacob Davis, Conner Davis, Camron Davis, Caleb Davis, Brady Coffey, and Chris Benton.

Born April 19, 1944, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late W.M. “Mac” McLendon and Lillian Dallis Singletary McLendon.   Ms. Elaine was a beautician at His and Hers Beauty Salon and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.   She loved her God, family, friends, and everyone she met.   She enjoyed spending time outdoors working with her plants and going to the beach.  Ms. Elaine was an avid sports fan including the Atlanta Braves and Falcons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Taylor, Levene Maddern, Laverne McClure, and Eva Nell Lennard.

Survivors include her children, Luana Benton Moore and Bruce of Ashburn, GA, Richard Anson Benton and June of Sautec Nacoochee, GA, Christopher Brent Benton and Kenya of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Evan Davis and Dawn of Meigs, GA, Toni Arlene Davis and Victor of Ochlocknee, GA, Hayden Van Coffey of Cordele, GA, John Patrick Coffey and Deidre of Sycamore, GA; bonus daughter-niece, Delores Ragsdale and Nick of Raleigh, NC; twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Rosalyn Tyson of Moultrie, GA; special friend, Michael Simpson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
