Moultrie, Georgia – Earnest Terrell Gay, Sr., 78, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel, with his brother, Mr. Jimmy Gay, officiating. Interment will be at Live Oak Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family from 5:30 until 7:00 PM, Monday, August 4, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Partain, Tyler Newsom, Karson Mistrot, Danny Riggins, Bo Riggins and Joey Riggins.
Born September 22, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was a son of the late Lewis Jonly Gay and Effie Redding Gay.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Kaye Gray; second wife, Carolyn Elaine Jordan Gay; sisters, Mary Riggins and Martha Martin; brothers, Julian Gay and Bobby Gay.
A member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, he enjoyed working and he was the co-founder and co-owner of Moultrie Post Forms for 35 years.
Survivors include his children, Earnest Terrell Gay, Jr and wife Cheryl of Monticello, Florida, Rebecca Melynn Lamb of Moultrie, Georgia; stepdaughter, Heather Sellers Mistrot of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Andrew Tyler Newsom, Etha Kage Gossett, Karson Mistrot, Ayden Mistrot, Cole Mistrot, Charlee Mistrot, Joanna Marie Mathis, Sherry Lynn Stephens, Sandra Jean Cannon and Scotty Joseph Cannon; great-grandson, Benjamin Roddy Newsom; sister, Betty Potts and husband Lamar; and brothers, Leroy Gay, Jimmy Gay and wife Janice.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice.
