December 27, 1943 — September 21, 2022

MOULTRIE, GA – Dwight Harlan May, 78, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Legacy Village at Park Regency.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

The family will receive friends after the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born December 27, 1943, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Ottis May and Bertha Elizabeth McGee May.  Mr. May was a 1962 Moultrie High School graduate, a graduate of the University of Georgia and Woodrow Wilson College of Law.  He served in Vietnam from 1967-1969 in the United States Army.  He was a very well-known Attorney at Law, who had a practice in Moultrie with more than 40 years of service.  Mr. May served as an assistant district attorney for approximately 3 years.   In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing and never met a dog or baby he didn’t love.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. James O. May, Dr. William O. May, Jr., Kenneth May.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Grace Murphy May of Moultrie, Georgia; son, James S. May and wife Karen of Tallahassee, Florida, Holly E.  May of Yuma, Arizona; grandchildren, Lindsey May and Ashley May both of Tallahassee, Florida; special friends, Judge Franklin Horkan (former law partner), longtime secretary and “the sister he never had”, Sue Dorough.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Colquitt Regional Hospice, PO Box 3548, Moultrie, Georgia 31776 and or the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 225 East 2nd Street (Tift Ave), Tifton, GA. 31794.
