July 29, 1967 — November 3, 2020

Douglas Christopher Hall, 53, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born July 29, 1967 in Tallahassee, FL, he was the son of Kay Deariso Hall of Moultrie and the late Brown Macon (Sonny) Hall.   Mr. Hall was a 1985 Colquitt County High School graduate, a 1990 Florida State graduate with a bachelor’s degree in music education, received a master’s degree at Troy University and had begun his doctoral program at Valdosta State University.   He was encouraging, passionate and dedicated to his students at Charlie A. Gray, where he was an algebra teacher and a former choir teacher.  During one period of his life, he enjoyed working alongside his father as an insurance appraiser. He even served his community as a Funston City Councilman. His work in education also included adult education and G.E.D. prep instruction at Southern Regional Technical College.  Music was his passion; he had an amazing voice and shared it with his community. Also, he was a founding member of the Colquitt County Men’s Choir.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served the Lord as the music director and as a member of the Covenant and Genesis Sunday School Classes.  Those who knew him remember how he had an outgoing personality, big heart, was extremely kind and how his humor would light up the room.  He was a dedicated husband and father, selflessly caring for his family. He was truly loved by many and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Laura Nell Thompson Hall of Moultrie; children, Carl Chesley Hall, Leila Nell Hall both of Moultrie; brother, Kevin Lee Hall and wife Jenee of Bradenton, FL; niece and nephews, Sierra, Travis and Max; mother and father-in-law, Sarah and Len Thompson of Moultrie; brother-in-law, Joel Thompson of Midway, GA; sister-in-law, Rachel Herndon and husband Paul of Moultrie.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Music Department, 501 1st Street SE, Moultrie, GA 31768.
