MOULTRIE, GA – Dorothy Inez Darby Hood, 82, of Moultrie, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Magnolia Manor Senior Living in Moultrie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Hopewell Baptist Church.   Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church. 

Casketbearers will be Trey Slocumb, Brannon Bullard, Clyde Lamon, Jeff Miller, Louie Hood, and Chance Porter.

Born November 24, 1941, in Edison, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Herman Darby and Lillie B. Hancock Darby.  Mrs. Hood retired from Dr. Lodge’s and Dr. Lamon’s offices as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.   She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother who loved her family and church family dearly.   Mrs. Hood enjoyed cooking and gardening.  During her time as a nurse, she cherished the people she cared for and was always willing to go the extra mile for them.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Jessica Lamon, Jaci Miller and Aiden Hobgood; siblings, James Darby, Shirley Darby, and David Darby.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Johnny Darrell Hood of Moultrie; children, Debra Lamon and husband Clyde of Moultrie, Janet Stephens and husband Jerry of Palatka, FL, Lisa Rentz and husband Wayne of Moultrie; grandchildren, Trey Slocumb and wife Leilani, Abby Miller and husband Jeff, Brannon Bullard, Savanna Lamon Fitzgerald, Kaley Norman, Makenzie Hobgood and husband Matt, Tanner Stephens, Kariann Lamon and Raney Lamon; great-grandchildren, Garrett Slocumb, Claire Slocumb, Caiden Bullard, Bryson Miller, Arlo Hobgood, Lorelei Norman, John Dylan Miller and Brynlee Miller, Braylon McMurphy, Cannon Slocumb; great-great-grandson, Abel Slocumb; sister, Lynda Sheehan and husband James.
