Dorothy Nell "Mama Dot" Whiddon Ethridge

DOERUN, GA – Dorothy Nell “Mama Dot” Whiddon Ethridge, 85, of Doerun, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 26, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Doerun.  Interment will follow in Doerun Cemetery.   No formal visitation is planned.

Casketbearers will be Luke Goodroe, Lane Goodroe, Max Franklin, Trev Simmons, David Rowland, Grady Whiddon, Hunter Whiddon.

Born August 19, 1938, in Worth County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Alvis Grady Whiddon and Zora Lee Medders Whiddon.  Mrs. Ethridge retired from Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany and was a member of First Baptist Church of Doerun.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.  Mrs. Ethridge was known by her family and friends as “Mama Dot”.   She will always be remembered as a kind-loving Christian lady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Ethridge; sister, Garland Whiddon Rowland.

Survivors include her children, Wade Ethridge, Melissa Goodroe and husband Craig; grandchildren, Luke Goodroe, Lane Goodroe; brother, David Whiddon and wife Susan; nephews, Eric Foster-Whiddon and wife Vanessa, David Rowland and wife Monica, Grady Whiddon and wife Chelsea, Hunter Whiddon and wife Samantha; caregiver, Eve Daniels; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
