Doris Shepherd Kalenian, long-time resident of Conover NC, passed into Eternity on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She has joined her husband, Arsene Kalenian, parents Perry N. Shepherd and Effie Gaddy Shepherd, brothers H.B. Shepherd and H.A. Shepherd and sisters Louise Shepherd Clem, Daisy Shepherd Horne, Annie Shepherd Hyde and Sarah Shepherd Taylor.
Surviving her is her sister, Ruby Nell Shepherd Morris; daughter, Rose Anne Kalenian; son, Robert A. Kalenian (Cindy) and daughter Regina Kalenian Cardwell (Bill); grandson, Christopher R. Kalenian (Amanda); granddaughter, Erin Cardwell Kirby (Troy) and great grandchildren, Taylor Kalenian, Romie Kalenian Presnell (Corey), Amelia Kalenian and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was born in Thomas County, GA on August 20, 1924. She married the love of her life, Arsene, on July 5, 1944 in the First Baptist Church of Norman Park, GA.
She resided in Troy NY, Moultrie, GA, Hickory NC, Warner Robbins, GA, Conover, NC and Hardy, VA. While in Conover, she attended Woodlawn Baptist Church and North Newton Baptist Church.
Interesting facts about Doris, she worked in an ammunition plant in Macon GA during WWII and drove the streets of Conover until she turned 98 years old. Her favorite hymn was “Living for Jesus”.
The funeral is 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 11, 2025 at First Baptist Church Norman Park, with the Reverend Jim Horne officiating. Interment follows at Pinecrest Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM, Saturday, at the church.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
