Dorcas Holt Scarborough

MOULTRIE, GA – Dorcas Ann Holt Scarborough, 68, of Moultrie, GA, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Archbold Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October, 19, 2023, at Murphy Cemetery with Rev. S. E. Newberry officiating.  Friends and family are welcome to visit at the residence.

Born February 12, 1955, in Waycross, GA, she was the daughter of the late Emory Jackson Holt and late Bernice Clark Holt.  Dorcas loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.  She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and doing various types of crafts.  Prior to her retirement she was a vital member of the Colquitt County School Board Nutrition Department and later went to serve as a switchboard operator at Archbold Medical Center.  Through the years she has been a faithful servant, a minister’s wife, and was a faithful member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Reese Holt and great-grandchild, Preston Johnson. 

Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Rev. Chuck Scarborough; children, Melissa Prosser and husband Ron of Selmer, TN, Daisy Sweeney and husband Larry of Springville, AL, Stephanie Scarborough of Moultrie; grandchildren, Cory King, Alex Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Christopher Johson, Colby Scarborough, MacKensie Taylor, Baylee Rayson; great-grandchildren, Blu Johnson, Gabi Johnson, Kyson Johnson, Emma Johnson, Owen Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Adalee Scarborough, Walter Scarborough, Mason Taylor; siblings, Wanda Rodela and husband Gene of Jacksonville, FL and Dana Holt of GA; numerous other family members.
