PORT ORANGE, FLA - Daniel P. Wisham, 76, of South Daytona passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Hospice in Port Orange, Fla. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, GA with Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Inurnment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Born November 12, 1944, in Moultrie, Georgia, Danny was the son of the late Simmie Wisham and the late Agnes (Pate) Wisham. In 2000 he met his soulmate, Shelly Hutchens. They spent the next 21 years together, reflecting a respect for and admiration of their relationship. As a couple, they developed a comfort with each other through mutual support, fun and love. Danny served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967. He was a Firefighter for the Daytona Beach Fire Department from August 1968 to October 1991. Many local residents utilized the Lawn Irrigation business he owned over the years, and he worked as a Hazmat Safety Inspector on the Mississippi River after the flood of 1979. One of his passions led him to becoming a Grease Monkey for NASCAR driver Terry Link in the 1970’s. He proudly held the position of Commander, 7 times at the American Legion Post 361 in South Daytona. He was also a member of the Halifax River Moose Lodge 2516, AMVETS 911, Eagles 4401, and former Honor Guard at the American Legion Post 120 in Holly Hill. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings, Lora Gay, Irma (Harold) Ohlenkamp, Hilda (Jim) Watts, Bonnie (Morris) Giddens, Kenneth (Martha) Wisham, Segried “Dick” (Phyllis) Wisham, and a son Michael Wisham. He is survived by Shelly, as well as the nephew he thought of as a son, Dennis (Susan) Ohlenkamp, one brother Freddie (Lynn) Wisham, several nieces and nephews, his Moultrie friends, Mike and Melissa Adams, Richard Godley, and his many friends at the American Legion Post 361 and AMVETS 911.
