Cora Busbee Chalkley Rice

Cora Busbee Chalkley Rice, 93, of Moultrie, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Cobblestone Health and Rehabilitation.

          Graveside rites will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Doerun Cemetery with Mr. Jim Chalkley officiating.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born August 27, 1927 in Poulan, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Agustus T. Busbee and Carrie Ione Busbee.  Mrs. Rice was the owner and operator of Rice Jewelry and was of the Methodist faith.  She enjoyed cooking, golfing, traveling and gardening.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Douglas H. Chalkley, Sr. and her second husband, B. Floyd Rice; sister, Bessie Crawley; brothers, William Busbee, Irvin Busbee and Charles Busbee.

          Survivors include her children, Douglas H. Chalkley, Jr. and wife Rose of Lyford, TX, J.M. “Jim” Chalkley and wife Brenda of Moultrie; grandchildren, Janna and Karal Hall of Moultrie, J.M. "Jim" Jr. and Lyn Chalkley of Panama City, FL, Jennifer and Tim Glenn of Valdosta, Sarah Chalkley Holt of Moultrie, Robert and Christina Norman of Minot North Dakota, Jessica McDaniel of Valdosta; eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family members.
