Christine Butler Cortes

MOULTRIE, GA – Christine Butler Cortes, 86, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Mr. Anthony Cortes and Mr. Tony Cortes officiating.  Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 P.M. Monday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. 

Casketbearers will be Anthony Cortes, Tony Cortes, Trey Newsome, Ethan Hathcock and Cameron Newsome.

Honorary casketbearers will be Luis Terrazas and Ben Hinson.

Born April 23, 1937, in Doerun, she was the daughter of the late E.J. Butler and Ida Mae Lee Butler.  Mrs. Cortes loved her family dearly and often showed her love through cooking for them.  She had a fantastic sense of humor and was very quick with witty comments in her conversations.  Mrs. Cortes was an intelligent but humble lady who possessed a huge heart for others.  She was always willing to help and often donated to causes that tugged at her heart.  Although she was a giving person, she could be very thrifty and exact when needed.  Mrs. Cortes was an anchor for her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel “Mike” Torres Cortes, and several of her siblings.

Survivors include her children, Tina Cortes Terrazas and husband Luis, Tony Cortes and wife Donna; grandchildren, Anthony Cortes and wife Ann, Cole Hinson, Cassidy Hinson, Tiffany Cortes, Tasha Echeverri and husband Carlos, and Jesse Cortes; great-grandchildren, Nina Cortes, Scarlett Cortes, Skylar Cortes, Kaigan Hardy, Ben Hinson, Eli Rose Echeverri, Lela Echeverri, Raikkonen Echeverri, Bella Hinson and Skyli Hinson; brother, Franklin “Bud” Butler; sisters, Inez Knight and Eudora O’Kelley and husband Alfred; along with numerous other extended family members and friends.
