Charles Kenneth Murphy

          Charles Kenneth Murphy, 91, of Moultrie, died Friday, January 24, 2020 at his residence. 

          Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, January 27, 2020 at Midway Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow in Midway Free Will Baptist Cemetery.

          The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00PM Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

          Casketbearers will be Jamie Murphy, Shane Powell, Walter Murphy, Jr., Curt Riggins, Matthew Palmer, Mason Murphy, and Bryan Bruner.

          Born June 6, 1928 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Walter Murphy and Sallie Gay Murphy.  Mr. Murphy was a member of Midway Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Adult Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Director.  He was a retired truck driver with Swift and Company and, along with his wife, operated Murphy’s Cash Store on Tallokas Road during the 1970’s.  Mr. Murphy was a very gentle, humble and faithful man, who loved the Lord.  He loved fishing and enjoyed camping at Cotton Hill with his wife and Calvin and Virginia Tucker.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Gay and brother, Devon Murphy.

          Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mary Elizabeth Tucker Murphy; children, Jimmy Murphy and wife Charlotte of Leesburg, Connie Lacey and husband Wayne, Deborah Murphy, and Glenn Murphy all of Moultrie, Michael Murphy and wife Kim of Albany; ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
