Catherine Gay Cole

Catherine Gay Cole, of Hartsfield, GA, died Thursday, October, 20, 2022, at Pruitt Health of Moultrie.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2022, at Hartsfield Cemetery.

Born June 11, 1928, in Hartsfield, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Dalton Gay, Sr., and the late Nathalee Faircloth Gay. A lifelong member of Hartsfield United Methodist Church and an avid reader, she was retired from Moultrie Insurance Agency where she worked for most of her career. She loved to travel, especially with her husband Jack, and spent her latter years doting on her beloved great nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Marion E. “Jack” Cole; brothers, Dalton Gay and Gene Gay; sisters, Alene Smith, Marzee Gay, and Virginia Gay; brother-in-law, C.J. Smith; sister-in-law, Ruby Gay; aunt, Blanche Faircloth; and niece, Debbie Durham.

Survivors include her brother, Jack F. Gay of Hartsfield; nephews, Brad Smith and wife Jan of Hartsfield, Mark Gay and wife Nancy of Leesburg, and David Durham of Moultrie; nieces, Donna Smith and husband Joe of Panama City, FL, Lisa Holmes of Hartsfield, and Molly Jacobs and husband Gary of Hartsfield; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Edwards Cancer Center in loving memory of Debbie Durham.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
