Lake Alfred, Florida, formerly of Moultrie, Georgia – Carole Smith Horak, 60, of Lake Alfred, Florida, formerly of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2026, at Winter Haven Hospital.
A private family memorial service is being planned.
Born January 10, 1966, in Haines City, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Daty Creighton “DC” Smith and Betty Marshall Smith, who survives.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Smith.
Survivors include her devoted and loving husband of 26 years, David A. Smith; sister, Gayle Turner; niece, Carrie A. Turner; uncle, Sonny Marshall, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Elmer Horak, Jr. and John C. Horak; as well as numerous other cherished family members and dear friends.
She was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy in life was caring for her husband and family. She took great pride in creating a warm and loving home and found happiness in the simple moments spent with those she held closest to her heart. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family were evident in all that she did.
She shared 26 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, David, and throughout their life together, she was a constant source of love, encouragement, and strength. She was his guiding light, his loving companion, and a treasured part of his every day. The love and memories they shared will forever remain in his heart.
She will be remembered for her caring nature, her devotion to those she loved, and the special way she made her family feel loved and cared for. Her gentle presence touched the lives of those around her, and the memories she created with her family and friends will be cherished for years to come. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
