OCHLOCKNEE, GA – Carlton Loyd, 79, of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Zion Grove Assembly of God with the Reverend Jimmy West and Reverend Tony Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Parker Hardigree, JT Rice, Greg Stahl-Loyd, Logan Scites, Cole Welch, and Brandon Rice.
Born October 23, 1944, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Carl Edward Loyd and Lois Simpson Loyd. Mr. Loyd was a perfect example of man with the loving heart of a child. He enjoyed driving tractors and scooters every chance he could. Mr. Loyd loved to talk with family and friends about any topic. His favorite hobby was eating at Ellie Mae’s restaurant and if he couldn’t make it there, then he would call his beloved sister, Cherie, to fix him his favorite food. Mr. Loyd enjoyed things in his life but treasured his family above, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a fighter who prevailed against all obstacles that tried to limit his adventurous journey through life. Mr. Loyd was a member of Coolidge Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Emory Loyd and a sister, Merlene Fraiser.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Jean West Loyd; children, Jamie Loyd and wife Summer, Amy Hardigree and husband Travis, Joni Rice and husband Weasel, Jody Loyd and wife Amber; grandchildren, Leah, Skylar, Charleigh, Parker, Kari Lyn, Unicka, JT, Greg and Nora Jean; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cherie Avery and husband Phil, Nellie Kifer; and several extended family members and friends.
