Bobby Gene Spires

Bobby Gene Spires, 78, of Moultrie, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home.

          A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

          Born November 1, 1942 in Osierfield, Georgia, he was the son of the late Oscar Spires, Sr. and Nina Mae Kimbrell Spires.  Mr. Spires was a United States Marine Veteran and retired from GTE as a supervisor.   He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan Alabama.   He loved his family, coached and umpired youth baseball and softball.  Mr. Spires enjoyed traveling, watching Nascar racing and western movies.  He was an avid Colquitt County Packers and Georgia Bulldog fan.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Yancey Len Spires; brothers, Ollie Spires, Oscar Spires, Jr., Jimmy Spires and Larry Spires; sisters, Wanda Faye Lott, Irma Jones.

          Survivors include his wife, Laura Janice Norman Spires of Moultrie; daughter, Kela Spires of Moultrie; daughter-in-law, Wendy Warren Spires of Tifton; grandchildren, Tyler Spires, Brittany Spires, Skylar Spires and Makala Spires; brother, Harry Spires and wife Madis of Berlin; sister, Lillie Mae Hartsfield of Sylvester.
