Born December 2, 1941, in Colquitt County, Bobby was the son of the late Roy and Jewell Smithwick Griner.  Bobby gave the best he had to his family, friends, church and community with his time, love and resources.  He wanted everyone to learn the value of hard work.  He was a man of his word and always stood for what was right.

In 1975, Bobby was ordained a deacon at Funston Baptist Church. He was also the Sunday School Director for years and he enjoyed singing in the choir.  Bobby met his future wife, Margaret Joyner, when they were fifteen years old and they married in 1960.  Their marriage was a loving, caring, and mutually respectful one.  They enjoyed traveling together, and Alaska was his favorite trip.

Bobby helped organize the Georgia State Young Farmers in 1970.  He was their first vice-president and their second president.  Five years later, the Griner family was chosen by the Georgia Young Farmers Association to be the Master Farm Family of the year.  Bobby also served on the Colquitt County School Board for four years.  He was elected director of Colquitt Electric Membership Corporation in 1976 where he served for forty-two years.  He was also chosen Colquitt County Farmer of the year in 1988.

Bobby was an avid hunter.  He enjoyed hunting deer and quail but turkey hunting was his favorite.  He could hunt a season and talk about it for the rest of the year.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Joyner Griner, and his three children; Denise and Scott Brookins of Brooklet, Keith and Monika Griner of Norman Park, Ginger Jenkins of Moultrie; seven grandchildren, Brooke and Reid Waters of Watkinsville, Bobbie Brookins of Atlanta, Keaton and Clay Walker of Perry, Bryson Giddens of Norman Park, Garrett Griner of Norman Park, Shelby and Cale Cloud of Moultrie, Sara and Josh Ott of Tifton; seven great-grandchildren, Jack Waters, Amelia Waters, Cannon Walker, Kirklyn Walker, Baylor Giddens, Bo Giddens and Greyson Griner Ott; sister Ann Griner of Moultrie.
