Bobby Lavelle Cobb

June 5, 1946 — June 14, 2020

MOULTRIE, GA - Bobby Lavelle Cobb, age 74, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the family’s pond house. Due to the ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, with entombment to follow at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The family looks forward to a well-deserved public celebration of Bobby’s life which will follow at a later date. Bobby was born on June 5, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Wilson Dewey and Ellen Rebecca Gregory Cobb. He was preceded in death by his brother Dewey Cobb. Bobby and his family were long-standing members of Trinity Baptist Church in Moultrie. Bobby was a gentle, compassionate, respected gentleman who so willingly dedicated his life to serving others. Wayne Grandy did a masterful job of sharing highlights of his life in a recent Moultrie Observer article - Cobb Tribute. Bobby was passionate about sports, loved the funeral industry and his co-workers, cherished the people he served, and treasured his family. He and Gayla built their family business around a simple thought process: “Treat everyone like they are your family because someone loves them. We deal with all walks of life. Never forget where the people come from…we treat everyone with the same respect and dignity.” Bobby’s nephew penned a perfect sentiment, “He demanded perfection from his own in order to provide excellence for his community. The Cobb family extends much farther than those within the business itself. Rather, it is the sum of those who have served over the decades and multiplied by those who have entrusted their service. Uncle Bobby was responsible for a family business in every sense of the word: his relatives, his employees, and the community in which he served. Moultrie may have lost a rock in the community, but the foundation of family he laid remains tall.” Bobby is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gayla King Cobb; daughter, Ellen Cobb-Robinson and husband Jamie of Moultrie. He was an extremely proud “Papa” of his twin grandchildren, Emily Cobb-Robinson and Ethan Cobb-Robinson. The family is eternally grateful for your loving support and appreciates your prayers in the days ahead. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, charity, or organization of your choice. Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook at www.cobbfuneralchapel.com.
