Betty Jean Rice Shiver

Betty Jean Rice Shiver, 75, of Moultrie, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Cool Springs Cemetery in Doerun with Dr. David Benton officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are recommended. Born June 17, 1945 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of William Earl Rice and the late Ella Mae O’Hearn Rice Jackson. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Shiver enjoyed crossword puzzles, boat rides, hummingbirds and growing cactus. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, April Paulk; a sister, Barbara Rice McMurphy and a brother, Earl William Rice. Survivors, in addition to her father of Alabama, include her husband, James O. Shiver of Moultrie; three children, James Rickey Shiver of Berlin, Donnie Owen Shiver of Milledgeville and Tammy Shiver Paulk and husband Curt of Moultrie; grandchildren, James Paulk, Cherish Shiver, Keshia Shiver, Whitney Shiver, Ivey Shiver, Owen Shiver and Sammy Shiver; great-grandchildren, James Paulk, Jr. and several other great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
