Avis Annette York Norman

Avis Annette York Norman, 86 of Moultrie, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 26, 2021 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM -2:00 PM Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

          The deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church will serve as casketbearers.

          Born March 6, 1935 in Ocilla, GA, she was the daughter of the late Frank York and Mary Elizabeth Young York.  Mrs. Norman was a homemaker, former substitute teacher for Colquitt County High School, and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a hands-on Mama.  Mrs. Norman will always be fondly remembered as a strong willed, principled, classy, and well-dressed lady who loved her family dearly.  

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Preston Norman; brothers, Alfred York, Acie York and Freddy York; sisters, Annie Reese, Alma York Porter, Aretta York Yonce, Aszlee York Konorosky and Anna York Strickland.

          Survivors include her son, Rev. Stanley Norman and wife Nancy of Moultrie; daughter, Lynn Hammack and husband Grant of Moultrie; grandchildren, Jeremy Norman, Heath Norman and wife Lauren, Sunny Norman, William Ian Hester and wife Amy, Carli Annette Hester; great-grandchildren, Ansleigh Bray Burnham, Izabel Grace Hester, Ivy JoLynn Hester; brother, Alvin York and wife Racine of Windsor, NC; sisters, Arnesteen York Adams and husband Herbert of Manchester, GA, Audrey York Dozier of Leesburg, GA.
