Arthur Ernest Hancock, also known as Ernest, passed away on October 9, 2023, in Moultrie, Georgia. He was born on January 5, 1960, in Colquitt County, Georgia.  Ernest was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of everyone he encountered.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Georgia located at 2441 Camilla Hwy.

In honor of Ernest's life, funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 13, 2023, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Meigs, Georgia. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Rev. Dion Brown will be officiating.  Casketbearers will be Joey Brock, Ottis Bryant, Pat Sullivan, Carl Simpson, Ben Peavy, and Randy Ricks.  Honorary casketbearers will be nephews, nieces, and extended children.

Ernest's career as a truck driver for Messer Gasses, LLC. showcased his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. He embraced every aspect of his job with determination and pride. Ernest's dedication to his profession earned him the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of those he served.  Outside of his professional life, Ernest had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He had a deep passion for fishing and could often be found casting a line in local ponds or ocean flats. The beach was another favorite destination for Ernest, where he enjoyed running and playing with the grandkids, crab hunting and the water parade. He also took pleasure in playing cornhole with friends and family, cherishing the moments spent competing and laughing together. Ernest loved planting a vegetable garden and took pride in nurturing his plants. Riding his golf cart brought him ample amusement with his grandkids, from riding dirt roads to sand dunes. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. One of Ernest’s greatest joys was cooking peanut brittle for friends and family.

Family meant everything to Ernest, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. He delighted in the presence of his wife of 40 years, Debbie Rosencrantz Hancock, their children Jim Hancock and Stephanie Prine, Haley Bridges and David all of Moultrie. His love extended to his grandchildren Alyssa Hancock, Ansley Bridges, Luke Bridges, Emmalyn Bridges. Ernest's siblings Judy Boyer, Leonard Hancock all of Moultrie; Carolyn Parrish and Jay from Doerun; Barbara Hancock from Moultrie; Bobbie Hickey and Randy from Meigs were cherished by him.

Ernest Hancock's presence will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the incredible life he shared with us and treasure the memories we created together.
