Arnelle Carr Carter

April 17, 1930 — May 10, 2020

Virginia Arnelle Carr Carter, 90, of Moultrie, died Sunday, May 10, 2020 at her home.

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Big Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Robert McCoy officiating.  

          Born April 17, 1930 in Irwin County, she was the daughter of the late John Pickens Carr, Sr. and Myrtice Arrington Carr.  Mrs. Carter retired from Mangles Department Store in Thomasville as a store manager and was an active member and Sunday school attendee at Autryville Baptist Church.  Before moving to Autryville Church, she was a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church.   Mrs. Carter formerly served as a WMU director and an active member of WMU VIP’S.   She will always be remembered for many things one will be her tea-cakes cookies she shared with many neighbors and friends and also for the bulletin boards she decorated at the Church monthly.   Mrs. Carter was a faithful Christian and loved her family and her church family.  She did not have any children of her own, but she claimed her nieces and nephews as her own.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Carter, Jr.; brother, John Pickens Carr, Jr., sister-in-law, Maxine Morgan; brother-in-law, Hubert Carter.

          Survivors include her brother, Charles Carr and Pat of Autryville, GA; nephews, John W. Carr of Moultrie, GA, Ike Carter of Thomasville, GA, Herb Morgan of Sarasota, FL; nieces, Scarlett Horton and Don of Cairo, GA, Ruby Barnes of Moultrie, GA, Ginger Merritt and Chuck of Moultrie; sister-in-law, Josephine Carter of Thomasville, GA; special friend, Joel Bruck of Sarasota, FL; several special great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

          Memorial contribution may be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice, PO Box 3548, Moultrie, GA. 31776 and or Annie Armstrong at Autryville Baptist Church, 2434 GA Hwy 33 South, Moultrie, GA 31788.
